Jeannette Grey Gilbert is a partner at BenefitRiver, and the founder of its Human Resources Consulting operation. Jeannette's background is in both Human Resources and as an employment law attorney in Colorado. Currently, Jeannette's focus is solely on HR Consulting involving matters related to legal compliance issues, performance management, employee relations issues, workplace investigations, management training and coaching, and handbooks and policy practices. Jeannette has had significant experience in these areas both as a Human Resources professional for the Federal Reserve Bank, and as an employment attorney for a number of years. Jeannette's experience is unique in that she has worked on behalf of both employees and employers, and she has been a part of the management team at a large company as well as a small business owner for the past several years. Employers benefit from her well-rounded experience and from her understanding of business issues as they relate to employment matters. Jeannette has been working at BenefitRiver since January 2009. Prior to this, Jeannette founded her own law practice in 2007, specializing in advising both employees and employers regarding employment matters. Prior to starting her own practice, Jeannette worked as Corporate Counsel for Grandview Investment Advisors, and investment firm in Denver, as well as for a law firm in Denver, where she represented employees in employment and civil rights litigation. In 2006, while at the law firm, Jeannette was one of the attorneys in the firm's employment law group who obtained a $9 million settlement for a class of female employees at the Denver Mint. This was an historic result in the state of Colorado and in the country. Jeannette earned her JD from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2005. During law school, Jeannette worked in the Refugee and Asylum Law Clinic where she successfully represented asylum seekers. Prior to law school, Jeannette worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Seattle Branch, where she was the Human Resources Professional and an Operations Supervisor. Jeannette also worked for the International Banking Division of US Bank, and with the Montana Migrant Education Program teaching children of migrant laborers. Jeannette obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Political Economy from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington in 1999, and was selected to attend the Engalitcheff Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University in 1997. Jeannette received a basketball scholarship to the University of Puget Sound and coach in the Seattle, Washington Amateur Athletic Union program from 2000 - 2001 |
